Project Overview
The Solar Inverter Home Installation project was completed by EnergyAid to restore functionality to a homeowner’s solar system after a critical equipment failure. The original inverter had stopped working, forcing the homeowner back onto costly utility power and the original installer was no longer available due to bankruptcy. EnergyAid procured and installed a compatible replacement inverter, reconfigured the system and established new monitoring capabilities, returning the home to energy independence and long-term reliability.
This installation is one of many pro-bono projects that EnergyAid provides for its community to ensure homeowners can continue to benefit from solar power and reduce their dependence on utility energy.
Community Impact
By restoring this residential solar system, the project advanced energy independence, reduced reliance on volatile utility costs and lowered the homeowner’s carbon footprint. It also demonstrated how service providers like EnergyAid can step in to support customers left without resources when their original installer is no longer in business, helping to maintain confidence in renewable energy solutions at the community level and beyond.

The Challenges
The project presented several hurdles including sourcing a compatible replacement for an older failed inverter and reconfiguring the solar system without access to the original installer’s records. EnergyAid also needed to restore the homeowner’s confidence after months of frustration and higher energy bills. In addition, reconnecting system monitoring required careful setup so the homeowner could actively track performance and avoid further downtime.

The Technology
EnergyAid deployed Tigo’s advanced inverter technology which integrates seamlessly with existing solar panels and allowed the team to avoid a costly full system replacement. Remote monitoring tools were also enabled to deliver real-time performance data, minimize future downtime and provide faster diagnostics without unnecessary site visits, ultimately saving time, reducing waste and improving long-term system reliability.

The Timeline
The project was completed in April 2025 with a one-week turnaround that included equipment procurement, system reconfiguration, installation and monitoring setup.
